Create a Cyrus IMAP e-mail account
Please note this article refers to Cyrus (Carnegie Mellon University) IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol ).
Zybert servers before the end of 2008 may still be using UW IMAP (University of Washington Internet Message Access Protocol).
Please check with Zybert or your reseller before setting up IMAP in your e-mail client.
Cyrus IMAP does NOT require mbox set as the root folder path.
There are many different e-mail clients. Not only are there many clients, there are also a number of versions for each. It is difficult to cover them all, therefore some basic examples are given.
These two settings apply to all e-mail clients:
1) The Incoming Mail Server is IMAP
2) Both the Incoming Mail Server and the Outging Mail Server names are mail
Outlook Express 6
Thunderbird 2
Outlook 2002
Outlook Express- choose Accounts from the Tools menu. The Internet Accounts window will open.
Click the Mail tab. This will show you any e-mail accounts that are currently set up in Outlook Express (in this example there are no accounts as yet).

Click the Add button. A menu will pop up, choose Mail.
The Internet Connection wizard will start, guiding you through a series of configuration steps for the e-mail address you want to add.
Enter the user's name as you want it to appear in e-mails being sent (e.g. John Smith). Click Next.
Enter the e-mail address you want to add (e.g. johnsmith @ mydomain.com), then click Next.
Enter the following information:
1) My incoming mail server is a: IMAP (using the drop down list box)
2) Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: mail
3) Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail

Click Next.
Enter the following information:
1) Account name: Your account name on your Zybert server
2) Password: Your password for this account, tick 'Remember password' as appropriate
3)Logon using Secure Password Authentication do not tick
Click Next, click Finish.
Go back and edit the account you just created. Choose the IMAP tab and set the:
1) Root folder path to: INBOX. (uppercase and the trailing dot are important and only applies to Outlook Express).
2) Check for new messages in all folders - do not tick.
3) Store special folders on IMAP server - tick.
4) Sent Items path - Sent Items
5) Drafts path - Drafts

Having set up the IMAP account go to:
Tools...
Account Settings...
Under the name of the account (on the left) select Server Settings
On the right choose Advanced...
Note the tick boxes and that IMAP server directory is blank.
It does not matter what is in the 'Personal- Public - Other' boxes as Allow Server to override these namespaces should be ticked.
